Situation: The window components that came out of the client’s 4-sided moulder were not sanded prior to the application of the first layer of lacquer. This resulted in the final surface not meeting the quality standard. Due to budget restrictions, the potential solution had to be incorporated into the production line without increasing production time. Cosma was asked to advise. Our solution: After demonstrating that sanding brushes could give the desired result, we recommended installing our standard 8-headed, 4-sided brush sander. Our machine was positioned directly after the milling machine and we developed a start/stop function to prevent the edges of the product being rounded-off.
