Faster process and reduction of a health hazard for a coffin manufacturer in France
Situation:
An automated finishing line was being used to lacquer coffins (200 per day) after assembly. The problem was denibbing the first coat of lacquer. At the time, this was being done by hand by two people. This was not only very costly in terms of time delays and inconsistent quality, but also posed a health risk.
Our solution:
Firstly, we demonstrated the consistent sanding result that Cosma sanding brushes achieve. Then we developed a robotic installation which rolled the coffins into an enclosed space with a fully automated dust extractor. Once the coffins were inside, the machine positioned them and sanded them. This solution delivered a faster process with consistent quality, and removed a large amount of dust from the workplace, solving all the customer’s problems.
